Financial Crisis

It's been a wild, wild week. But hey, even if it all ends up worthless, it sure can be pretty. Apologies, but I can't find the artist credits for these. I'll keep digging.

Too pretty to eat

Never thought I'd say those words and even half mean it. But this is beautiful. Any bakers nearby who want to give it a whirl? I think it will require a team, or maybe even a village. This looks heavenly.

The Look

Warning. This site is like crack. It is instantly addictive. I love all the pictures people take of themselves-- so many good ideas for dressing. I think I'm secretly wishing I had big round glasses about now. Seriously do NOT look at if you need to get anything done the rest of the day.

Mean Case of the Mondays?

The cure-- and a shot of energy to boot. TV on the Radio is truly great-- saw them on Saturday (and got to talk to the singer a bit!!). Also they have a new album coming out tomorrow.. it's good so check it out. Enjoy

Party Favor

I think these would be great all in a line--- especially to display something besides gumballs. You can get the blue ones here, or red ones here.

the Dew

At a recent trip to the 'sev I espied these tricked out bottles of Mountain Dew. I like (though I don't imbibe the dew). Part of this artist series.

Lovin Spoonful

In Wales young men used to carve wooden spoons for their intended. This article tells about the significance of the tradition. They are made from a single piece of wood. I think they are beautiful.

WWAW?

What would Audrey (as in Hepburn) wear? I think a lot of things from Beklina's fall line. Especially any of these dresses:

He taught me how to praise the Lord and still play Rock n Roll

I am at a loss for any word besides WoW

oh. and creepy!

The Welsh Jig

um. Ok. not. but some Welsh music I'm into. Of the contemporary and pop variety

Los Campesinos:

and well, there's that.

and ok, fine. they are the only Welsh band I know (besides Tom Jones). But they are so good, eh?

deerly

I love the selby. I hate dead animals but this one is cute. From Cindy Greene's house. And also this one.

If you got a problem

yo I'll solve it. All the extra drives for my computer make it super zippy, but they are not very cute:Until I pack them all away in here:

Wendesday

= Bluesday? This song is perfect for my mood today. Yah, Bon Iver is blowing up, but still. Listen!

The way the cookie crumbles

When you come to visit me in San Francisco, I will take you down a very small China town alley and there we will face down the mean ladies of the fortune cookie factory. Together. Also thanks to the crew pictured here for the awesome dim sum brunch last Saturday-- I'll take the rest of you there, too.

O Wales

Sing that to the tune of O Canada. When I was little I'd always want to use my Mom's coin purse.. much like the ones below. Since I couldn't remember Wales, the fact that the purse was from there made it mysterious. Also, the bright shiny pennies. This is a great article on Welsh Wool. I haven't found a definitive source for them, but you can try here or here.

Saying Thanks

How do you say thanks to the girl who has everything? I figured since she already has the coolest stuff ever, I might as well just wrap it all up so that she can rediscover it all again. Welcome home!

Luck of the Welsh

That's me. Just in time to get cozy, a little of my heritage for you. I love these vintage Welsh tapestry throws. Jen Jones has a ton of great Welsh wool blankets, both vintage and new. You can read more about Welsh woolen mills here.

Music for your Tuesday

I just wrote about Built for the Sea over here. I've loved their cd for the last few months. You can listen to a new song here.

R.I.P.

David Foster Wallace died last weekend. He was a great writer. I think everyone should read his first essay in Consider the Lobster. It highlights (in a very funny way) how bad and destructive the porn industry is. I am sad he is gone.

I'd like to buy the world

an evlove sharpie. This is a really fun idea-- perfect party gift for a crew of taggers, or crafty friends. How would you personalize yours?

Around the world in

Crafts. Since I never get to travel as much as I'd like, I'm going to do some cyber exploring. This week I'm starting with Wales, the land of my birth. Get excited.

Collected

Owls are a trendy animal right now (I am projecting foxes to be next year's hot little creature). My sister Jane began collecting them years ago-- it's fun to go through her shelves and travel the world of owls. I love people who have collections-- it makes it so easy and fun to find gifts for them. What collections are y'all working on these days?

Friday Afternoon Tunes

Because you want to leave your computer. I got to talk to this guy on the phone yesterday. Argentinian + Swedish = amazing combo. This song is so pretty (better than the original, no?)

Is it wrong

To want to buy these because I love the rainbow colors? They just look so darn pretty all in a line.

Adam and Eve

had it right. My favorite snack this time of year is figs (from the tree in my yard!) and goat cheese. Trust me, the sweet and tangy combo is amazing. I was happy to see Martha gave figs a nod this month as well (thought I'm sure my California dwelling ones are tastier than hers..). September Living also has some good fig recipes.

Grand Marquee

My cool kid idols over at Something's Hiding In Here have this cool new billboard project at an Urban Outfitters. It reminds me of this great mini marquee from ReadyMade-- perfect for leaving messages for the people you live with.
You could also get all DIY with marquee lettering from places like this.

7 year Itch?

Ahem, more like the three week long cold. I have tried every remedy (scientific, folksy, scary) that anyone has suggested, but to no avail. Anyone got some magic bullets for this sniffle? I'm sick of feeling like that one kid....

Y10K

We had an exciting milestone here at evlove yesterday. At 2:27:59 pm PST someone became our 10,000 visitor. If you clicked here through Jordan's blog and are located in SF on a pacbell server, leave me a comment below and you will get a very special surprise evlove gift package-- for checking us out.Dorthe Alstrup Image found via Oh Happy Day.

Pack Rat

I always try to pack lightly, but it seems like I always fail. I check out tips like these but it seems like it never all quite fits. Cute jeans, a skirt, a dress, a sweater, a cute top or two, flats, toiletries.. etc. it just seems to expand. Have you guys got any good tips for looking put together on the road, but not bringing the kitchen sink with you?*Have been lusting after this Samsonite Black Label suitcase for ages.

Dark Crystals

I love the sci-fi meets hippy vibe of this agate and silver necklace. Very cool fusion of modern with earthy. And green! Pair it with some jeans and basic white shirt of your choice, and I'm pretty sure you can have the nerd of your choice.

The Organized Life

The Autumn always makes me feel the mini-stir of back to school excitement. Much like New Year's, I tend to take stock of my life and try to get things in better order. I've been working on coralling and organizing all of my art supplies lately (stay tuned for progress). These daily organization tips from Martha are great. I especially like this article about de-cluttering. What about the rest of you-- got any back to school resolutions? p.s. special shout out to all my friends who are teachers-- hope you have a great year!
